We are aware that many of you have to travel across town to consult at the Medical Centre or the main surgery. We believe that we provide good appointment availability and tailored services to students and that the time it takes to commute should not be that great. Dr Jennifer Hollands, Dr Tabitha Winnifrith & Dr Mike Skene also consult. We are an independent NHS Practice but the ethos of the practice is to liaise closely with Student Services and the Students Union and to tailor our services to University life.  If you are registered elsewhere consider whether your doctor allows you to book  on line, has a sports physiotherapist, provides mental health counselling, free travel vaccinations and free sick notes.  Finally how quickly can you get an appointment? To use the Medical Centre you therefore need to be registered as an NHS patient. However, in an emergency the Centre will help even if you are not registered. The Medical Centre is situated at the Park Site close to the Refectory. It can be easily accessed by students from all three Cheltenham Campuses. A doctor is available mornings and afternoons form Monday to Thursday and on Friday mornings, and a nurse is available for part of every day. You can also consult from the Underwood Surgery (see other website) SURGERY TIMES There is a receptionist on site from - 9.00am – 5.00pm Monday to Thursday 9.00am – 1.00pm Friday Please note there will not always be a doctor or nurse available, and the Appointments line will be closed over lunchtime. DOCTORS' SURGERY TIMES 10.00am - 12.00 pm Monday to Friday 2.00 pm - 4.00 pm Monday to Thursday WHY REGISTER If you are living in Cheltenham during term-time, you will need to be registered with a doctor in Cheltenham in order to receive routine and emergency medical care. It is therefore important to register with a doctor as soon as possible. To consult the doctors at the Medical Centre you need to be registered with the Underwood Surgery. Many students will do this during registration week at the college. Alternatively you can register by turning up in person at the Medical Centre itself. You will be given a ‘GMS1’ registration form and a health questionnaire so that you can let us know something of your general state of health while we wait for your medical record to arrive. Please ensure you complete these forms correctly and return them to us. You will also receive a form asking if you wish to have some of your details uploaded to the national Summary Care Record. You only need to return this form to us if you do not wish to have your details uploaded. You can still see your GP at home during the holidays, if necessary, by consulting him/her as a temporary patient. There is a selection of health information leaflets available at the Medical Centre which you are welcome to read and/or take away with you. We welcome University Staff registering provided that they are resident in Cheltenham Borough.
